The end of the Federal Tax Credits for energy efficiency is approaching quickly. Now is the time to make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to reduce taxes and save on energy bills. Homeowners who invest in high efficiency air conditioners or heat pumps can tap into the multi-billion dollar economic stimulus package that ends on December 31, 2010.
The tax credit is fairly simple to estimate. It’s up to 30 percent of the price, up to $1500 for qualifying equipment on existing homes through the end of 2010. It can be applied to energy efficient upgrades of residential windows, doors, and insulation.
