Why install a de-humidistat to your air conditioning unit?
May 15, 2010
When living here in Vero Beach, Florida, it can get very humid and produce mildew and moisture in the summertime. A lot of you go away for long trips or go to your up-north homes where it’s not so humid in the summer. When you leave your Florida home, you want to make sure your house is secure and that the humidity is not going to destroy your walls, paintings or anything else that is of value to you.
Installing a de-humidistat on your air conditioning unit takes the humidity away from the air and overrides the thermostat. The de-humidistat controls your air conditioning unit to keep your house as dry as possible when you are away from your home for a long period of time.
It’s simple to use the de-humidistat, just make sure that your temperature for you’re a/c is set to 80 degrees and it’s on AUTO-FAN and COOL. This, however, does not mean that your house will be 80 degrees, it means that the de-humidistat is set to function effectively. Set your de-humidistat to 65%. Some people like to set it 60% and some 75%. The lower the number the dryer it will keep your house. If you set your de-humidistat to be too low, your looking at a higher electric bill.
